All emo hairstyles look very similar, even the hairstyles of emo boys and girls isn't that different. However they look like each other, there still are different emo hairstyles. Emo hair can be dyed in many differend colors (mostly black). And there also are differend haircuts. In this chapter I'll collect differend emo hairstyles for boys.

Traditional

This is the emo hairstyle you think about when you hear the word: emo hair. Every emo boy dreams of having this hairstyle. It's layered hair which covers one eye and cut on shoulder length. However this hairstyle always seems like it looks the same, there still are slight differences. Every emo boy cuts this hairstyle on his own way. Some have short bangs while others have long bangs that covers one eye. Johnnie Guilbert and Andy Biersack from his videoclib Knifes and pens (2009) are rocking this hairstyle!

Short

The short emo hairstyle is a less popular hairstyle for emo boys. It covers one eye just like the traditional emo hairstyle but the difference is that the side and the back of the hair is cut really short. Also boys with this hairstyle do like to spike the backhair to look really punky. For this hairstyle I think it's on its best when its dyed black. Jake Pitts from BVB (2020) and Bill Kaulitz (2005) do have this hairstyle.

Spikes

Some emo boys do like to have extreme hair. They just have the traditional emo hairstyle but they tease the back of their hair upward and use a lot of hairspray. They are emo but they also follow their old punk ancestors tradition by making their hair very spiky! I don't think a lot of emo boys do walk around with this hairstyle nowadays.

Extreme

When you see an emo boy with this hairstyle than the first thing you think is: How the f*ck can he see?! These emo boys do have extreme long bangs that doesn't cover one eye but 2. That's extreme emo actually. They look like they were too lazy to cut their bangs and layers. This hairstyle can be black but a lot of boys also do have their own haircolor because they are too lazy to dye.. However, it is a mistery how these boys can move around, but it's still a popular hairstyle for emo boys.
