Hardcore punk
Hardcore-punk is our second chapter of the emo subculture history. Hardcore-punk is a music genre that formed in the end of the 70s in the VS. It's a harder form of punk music. Like punks started to rebel against the bigger ideologys, Some punks formed their own group and started to rebel against the punk. These punks still had the same political statements but they didn't like the alcohol, drug and behaviours of the punks. Their political statements would never be taken seriously by that. That's how the straight edge movement formed toghether with hardcore punk. These punks saw thems selves still as punks but they weren't interested in the original 70s punk anymore.
It's not sure were the term hardcore is coming from. A lot of people think the term is coming from the album Hardcore81 from the hardcore punk band D.O.A.. The lyrics of hardcore punk songs were often about politics or their subculture. It's inspired by the earlyer protopunk and New york punk (New york punk had a harder sound than punk).
Hardcore punk was really focused on DIY (Do It Yourself). The hardcore-scene has independent record labels. They made their own recordings, magazines, leaflets and organized their own shows. The hardcore-scene had a strong ''us" feeling. Hardcore concerts were known with stagediving and devloped moshpits, With a moshpit people wildly dance and push eachother without the meaning to hurt. Respect was really importand. If there were victims of a moshpit than they helped eachother. A moshpit isn't meant agresive but to let your body go with the music. The term Hardcore probely was used to describe. altrough, Hardcore-punk concerts were really hardcore.
In the 80s and 90s a lot of sub genres evolved from hardcore punk. Like New york hardcore, Metalcore, Mathcore. Some hardcore punk bands started to write emotional and personal lyrics. This evolved into Emotional-hardcore.
